AI and Library Instruction

My colleague Amy James and I have been thinking and writing a lot about generative artificial intelligence and library instruction, specifically these questions:

  • How should we be teaching students about generative AI?
  • What specifically should we be teaching and in what contexts?
  • How should AI tools (like ChatGPT) be used in library instruction?
  • Where can we find generative AI within the Framework for Information Literacy (which of course doesn’t reference it specifically)?

“Where does ChatGPT fit into the Framework for Information Literacy? The possibilities and problems of AI in library instruction” College & Research Libraries News, October, 2023.
